It's an embarrassing way to qualify, and will magnify the embarrassment of going out at the first hurdle, if that happens.
But it's a long campaign, and, if we win the competition, no-one (except maybe some of our own more perverse fans) will give a shit.

The only thing that I find embarrassing about qualifying via the fair play league is that some of our 'fans' find it embarrassing.
Why would you? It's a legimate route into Europe and one that nobody looks at realistically until the final weeks of the season when it becomes apparent that it's on.
The last season at the Boleyn Ground with hopefully some great European games under the lights including the group stages? I'll take that all day long.
Lastly, just for the record. When we all 'take the piss' out of Spurs and so on for their Europa League journey, it's done out of jealousy. Obviously. As has been said already, Fulham reached the final via this route and I bet their fans loved every single minute of it - with zero embarrassment.

Roe.... no matter how you paint it up getting a place in what is supposedly a top class European competition by being nice guys is embarrassing... dont give a fuck whether it's us Fulham or whoever...it's wrong... oh don't get me wrong I don't blame us or any other club accepting it with both hands but it seemed like to me that the last month or the season that people were more excited at counting yellow cards and tackles than goals?? Qualification should be for acheiving something ie a cup final place or league position... not for being Nice Guys... maybe it's me just being old skool... but that is for me how it should Always work...

Why shouldn't we take it seriously Sold? Fulham reached the final knocking out some great European clubs from winning a spot from the fair play league.
I bet those fans that went to those European nights against Roma, Hamburg, Wolsburg, Juventus would have rather been out walking their dog instead.

AND if as Maverick says and we stand no chance when the Champions League losers come in, not that I agree as we could well still be seeded, what harm has been done? We've replaced pre-season games with Europa League games against no hopers and the players have gained a new experience that will stand them in good stead.

It's good to be in the competition, I'm looking forward to it, and it'll hopefully help with our manager and player recruitment this summer.
